19/01/12 stoodley pike sunset

The tree in the foreground is five feet away, Stoodley Pike around five miles. It's a tough landmark to find a fresh perspective on - hope I've managed to capture something different. No wind and a sturdy tripod means the Pike's sharp as a tack, too!

02/11/11 another place

After missing the best of the morning light thanks to carnage on the M62, getting my jeans coated in 12 inches of mud and managing precisely zero original shots, I stomped back up the beach swearing like a trooper. I was about to head home in a strop when five whacking great tipper trucks headed along the beach, transporting sand from one end to the other - their tyres churned up the surface, and gave me just what I needed...

22/10/11 love locks

I'd never heard of love locks before this week's trip to Paris with the Mrs, but will hopefully be back soon to take more pics on the Pont des Arts. In these cynical times, what a lovely idea - I was blown away. Here's to Hose & Nana, Robert & Andrei, Margo & Bruce, Luca & Pepan, Agika & Bela, Alex & Sarah, Agusia & Bubus and thousands more...

11/10/11 the carpenter

Tony's an inspiring craftsman, and has a workshop with loads of interesting stuff in it. You could spend all day in there. The dust is amazing. And he makes a great cup of tea.

09/10/11 dream

'Dream' is a 20m-high sculpture by Jaume Plensa sited on the former Sutton Manor Colliery in St. Helens, overlooking the M62 between Liverpool and Manchester - you can find out more about it here. I wanted to do something different from the usual 'bloody big head' images - so went for 'bloody big head and some thistles'.

05/10/11 not in service

Today was the first beautifully overcast day for ages (or the first one I've not been stuck in work, at least). Came across this bus while driving through Blackshaw Head and took this shot from the roadside. Went back an hour later and knocked on a few doors to track down the owner who let me get some close-ups - he asked for those ones not to be published though, so as chuffed as I am with them they'll have to stay under wraps!

22/09/11 ribblehead viaduct

Nipped into the Dales for a gander at the Ribblehead Viaduct - never been before. Prayed for a dramatic sky, didn't get one. Chuffed with the way this turned out nevertheless - the little blob of foreground interest in the sheep makes it for me. He'd just finished relieving himself, which they all seemed to do when I went near any of them.
